The Heads of the Belarusian Railway and the Polish State Railways discussed the results of collaboration

The Head of the Belarusian Railway took part in the meeting with the Management Board of the Polish State Railways. The event was held on 15—16 of February, in Berlin.

During the meeting sides discussed the results of work on freight and passengers transportation in 2017 and prospects of its development in 2018.

The Management Board of the Polish State Railways: PKP SA — is the dominant company in PKP Group, PKP Cargo — company responsible for freight transport operations, KPK Intercity, PKP LHS — Broad Gauge Metallurgy Line took part in the meeting.

The sides discussed the importance of the development of international railway passenger and freight transportation between Belarus and Poland, the organization of container train transportation in the connection China—West Europe—China.

The volume of freight on East—West—East direction of railway transportation was 12,2 mln tons in 2017 (133,0% to 2016 year) with the participation of PKP Cargo.

Container trains transported 245,4 ths. TEU containers on ChinaWest EuropeChina direction (174,1% to 2016 year).

At the meeting the sides agreed to develop direct international passenger transportation on Warsaw—Brest—Minsk and others directions between Belarus and Poland. Since the direct connection service Warsaw—Brest—Minsk was launched on 10 December 2017, a total of 16 ths. passengers have been transported.
