Belarusian Railway ensures timely handling and terminalling of the first container train from China to Europe according to a full-time schedule
07 Nov 2022
On October 26, 2022, the first container train was dispatched on Xi'an – Duisburg direction according to the full-time schedule. The schedule was designed to synchronize the time of arrival, transshipment, switchover via division points and transportation along all sections of the railway with the 1435 mm gauge and the 1520 mm gauge.
The first container train within the framework of the implemented full-time schedule arrived at Belarusian Railway on November 2, 2022.
It took Belarusian Railway less than 9 hours to finish transshipping containers from a 1520mm gauge train to a 1435mm gauge train and get the train through customs control and other control procedures at the Belarusian-Polish border.
The train left the Brest-North station for Western Europe along a 1435mm gauge rail track on November 3, 2022.
The train is fitted with a GPS powered by the Chinese satellite navigation system Beidou. Clients, whose goods are being transported to Europe, can see where they are in real time.
The project has been implemented as part of the efforts to develop container transportation in association with the railway companies of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Western Europe.
The full-time schedule for container train traffic between China and Europe will be introduced gradually in order to satisfy logistic needs of clients and improve the quality of service.
