29 Dec 2020

Belarusian Railway signed a contract with China Electric Import and Export Corporation (CUEC) and CRRC Datong Electric Locomotive on 29 December 2020.

According to the contract Belarusian Railway will get 15 single-section alternating-current freight electric locomotives BKG2. The contract was signed by the Head of Belarusian Railway Vladimir Morozov, CUEC Chairman of the Board Wang Jinsong and CRRC Datong Chairman of the Board Huang Qichao.

The electric locomotives will be delivered to Belarusian Railway by the end of 2023. The cost of the investment project is € 64.3 million.

It should be mentioned that the new locomotives will be able to haul passenger trains in addition to freight ones. Belarusian Railway has cooperated with China Electric Import and Export Corporation and CRRC Datong Electric Locomotive for ten years. During this period the Belarusian company bought 30 freight electric locomotives BKG1 and BKG2.

The Head of Belarusian Railway Vladimir Morozov noted that freight is freely transported in China–Europe–China direction thanks to the joint contribution to the development of the infrastructure and the traction rolling stock.
