Belarus—Mongolia working meeting held in Minsk

A working meeting took place between Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko and Mongolian Road and Transport Development Minister Byambasuren Enkh-Amgalan in Minsk on 27 January. The Heads of Belarusian Railway Vladimir Morozov and JSC Ulaanbaatar Railways Damdinsuren Jigjidynymaa also attended the meeting.
During the meeting Belarus and Mongolia have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document was signed by Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko and Mongolian Road and Transport Development Minister Byambasuren Enkh-Amgalan. The memorandum deals with the implementation of joint transportation projects.
As for cooperation in transportation by rail, it develops progressively, the Head of Belarusian Railway Vladimir Morozov said. The container train “Mongolian vector” started running since 2002 on the route Brest—Ulan Bator. From 2005, the route was extended to China.
More than 50 000 tonnes of freight was transported in Belarus—Mongolia direction in 2019, 7% more than in 2018. In 2019, it amounted to 13 000 TEU containers and there are reserves for increasing transit by rail, Vladimir Morozov noted.
