71st meeting of Council on Rail Transport opens in Minsk

The 71st meeting of the Council on Rail Transport of the Commonwealth Member States opened in Minsk on 15 October 2019.
Taking part in the meeting are Council members: the heads of railway administrations in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, and the Council’s associate members: the heads of railway administrations in Bulgaria, Georgia, Latvia and Finland, as well as the heads of railways in Lithuania, Estonia. The railway administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Confederation of Trade Unions of Railwaymen and Transport Builders have observer status on the Council. The meeting chaired by Oleg Belozerov, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of OJSC Russian Railways.
Also present at the meeting’s opening were Vladimir Kuharev, the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Alexei Avramenko, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, Andrei Rybak, Member of the Council of the House of Representatives, Agybay Smagulov, Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, Dmitry Mezentsev, the Russian Ambassador to Belarus.
During the Council’s meeting, it is planned to discuss a wide range of issues, including the results of the operational work of the combined railway network, the results of passenger traffic in international services for the nine months of 2019, the rail companies’ tariff policies, the development of train timetables, plans for the formation of international trains for 2019-2020 and a joint research and development plan.
