The Belarusian Railway will discuss future collaboration with the “Port of Duisburg”
The delegation of the Belarusian Railway led by the Head of the company Vladimir Morozov will take part in talks with directing officials of the “Port of Duisburg" (Germany) on 19 June.
The parties will discuss the proposals of the German company to start freight container transportation along the China—Belarus—Germany (Port of Duisburg) route, possible cooperation with the Belarusian Railway according to the plans to expand the China—Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone.
The Belarusian delegation will visit the terminal railway infrastructure of the port and study its technical and technologies capacities on container trains handling.
The Belarusian Railway is ready to cooperate with the business community of the European Union on mutually beneficial terms.
The Belarusian company is actively developing container transportation not only through the border checkpoint Brest—Terespol, but also through other Belarusian-Polish border checkpoints: Bruzgi—Kuznica Bialostocka and Svisloch—Siemianowka that handle cargo on the East—West—East route on the 1520mm and 1435mm gauge tracks. The Belarusian Railway plans to resume cargo delivery through the border checkpoint Vysoko-Litovsk—Czeremcha by the end of 2018.
The Belarusian Railway pays particular attention to the transloading of containers on the Belarusian side. The expected growth of container traffic on the East—West—East route is 540 000 containers in TEU per year by 2020 and 1 million containers in TEU per year by 2025.
Republican Forwarding Unitary Enterprise “BELINTERTRANS — transport-logistics centre" of the Belarusian Railway (“BTLC") provides transport and forwarding as import, eхport, transit so local services. BTLC has Koliadichi city freight station in Minsk. Its convenient location in the near vicinity of the capital gives the opportunity to provide a full range of services connected with universal containers operation.
In January-May 2017, 104,200 containers in TEU moved along the China—Europe—China route, up by 21.9% as compared to the same period a year before.
