The Heads of the Belarusian Railway and the Latvian Railway discussed the issues of bilateral collaboration

The Head of Belarusian Railway Vladimir Morozov and the President of Latvian Railway Edvins Berzins are holding talks in Minsk from 6 to 7 February.

The sides considered a number of topical issues of bilateral cooperation and the results of interaction in Belarus-Latvia railway passenger and freight traffic in 2017. They also single out measures to keep developing their cooperation.

The Heads of Railway organizations discussed ways to increase Belarus-Latvia cargo traffic. They paid attention to the progress in the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation in Belarus-Russia high-speed rail freight traffic.

The sides agreed Procedure of organization express rail freight service Minsk-Riga-Minsk in test mode. They also will continue to form a cargo base for the project.

The executives exchanged plans to electrify rail sections. Edvins Berzins noted the positive experience of the Belarusian colleagues in railway electrification.

Passenger train №87/88 runs between Minsk and Riga every other day. In 2017, the passenger traffic was 24488. The work to promote passenger traffic between the capitals of Belarus and Latvia will continue.
