The route of the “Viking“ multimodal transport train passes along the Pan-European transport corridor IX Varna (Bulgaria)/Chisinau (Moldova)– Illyichevsk/Odessa–Berezhest (Ukraine)–Slovechno–Minsk–Gudogai (Belarus)–Kеna–Draugiste/port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) and links a chain of sea container and contrailers lines of the Baltic Region with a similar system of the Black and Mediterranean Seas. Currently, the railways of Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania and also a logistics operator of Turkey – “BALO“ – are “Viking“ project stakeholders.
The train comprises platforms with multi-tonnage containers, special platforms with trailer trains and passenger wagons for transporting drivers and consigners' guards.
The train runs daily when ready.
Freight in large-tonnage containers is transported by “Viking“ train to all stations open for handling large-tonnage containers and is also destined to the stations not open for operations with multi-tonnage containers, provided that a written approval of the Belarusian Railway is available.
